On Saturday (20 September), local woman Amy Clarke undertook a 50km cycle to raise money for the Kilkeel-based charity, Bright Places Counselling Services.
Founded in 2020, Bright Places Counselling Services provides free counselling to anyone over the age of 18 who needs support. Referrals can be made through health professionals, via their social media channels, or by emailing hello@brightplaces.org.
When asked why she chose to take on the challenge, Amy explained:
“Bright Places Counselling Services is an incredible, and vital, charity, providing free counselling to those in our local area. I wanted to raise money for them because I’m not sure where I would be now without their support during an extremely difficult time in my life.
I am so grateful for the free counselling sessions I received through Bright Places, and I wanted to do what I could to raise money and awareness so other people in our community could receive the same support.
Free, accessible counselling isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifeline — and Bright Places are a beacon of hope when you’re lost in the darkness.”
Bright Places Counselling Services expressed their sincere thanks to Amy for supporting the charity and helping raise much-needed funds. They also extended their gratitude to everyone who sponsored Amy, saying:
“Every penny goes directly towards providing free counselling sessions. We rely solely on fundraising and funding, so the support is deeply appreciated.”
