NEWLY-promoted An Riocht have won two of their three games so far in Division Two, and manager Colin Kelly has explained how his team have adopted a simple approach to the season.
Colin told the Mourne Observer, “We are hoping to win as many games as we can, and improve as we go along. If that happens then let us see where we are at the end of the season.”
Colin took over management in November 2022, and helped to get the team promoted from Division Three.
But now the challenges are tougher.
Last Thurday they were up against a Longstone team who played Division One football last season. But An Riocht emerged victorious by 1-7 to 0-9.
Colin said, “For our lads to battle the way they did was good. We were nervy. We made a lot of errors, kick passing errors, handling errors. That’s generally not in the squad. There was poor decision at the end in terms of taking the wrong option in front of goal. It could have been a lot more comfortable but it was a great experience, and great for our lads to go up to Longstone and win.”
