Stephen Burden was the hero for Annalong on Saturday as his two late goals rescued a point for Annalong in their MUFL Division 1 Championship clash with Coalisland. It was Annalong’s third draw in a row in the MUFL Division 1, and they are in joint fifth place alongside Hill Street in the division after eight games played.
Having beaten Coalisland 3-0 in the middle of August, Annalong might have expected a better result on Saturday. However, they conceded first, in the 30th minute. But they were able to quickly respond and had pulled a goal back four minutes later from Philip McConnell. Coalisland were determined to win, and they took the lead in the 68th minute. They stretched that lead to 3-1 in the 84th minute.
Annalong appeared to be in trouble, but Seamus Burden eased their concerns when he finished to the net in the 86th minute to make it 3-2. One minute later, he grabbed the equaliser. He is enjoying a fantastic run of form of late and has scored eight goals in the last five games that he has played, and nine goals in all tournaments.
