Ballymartin’s joint-manager Tony Bagnall hailed the team’s win over Dundrum as one of their best performances of the year.
Last Thursday, Ballymartin cruised to a 13-point victory against Dundrum to earn their fifth win of the campaign.
Bagnall told the Mourne Observer why the 3-14 to 2-4 victory over Dundrum was so impressive.
“We pressed them around the arc. That good press stopped them from going for shots.
“When we turned them over, we attacked them at pace.
“We had been working on that pressure.
“Dundrum was our best performance of the year because of what we had been working on.”
Bagnall manages the team alongside Aidan Carr. In their first season in charge, they have enjoyed a good run of six wins in seven games.
On Monday night they recorded win number six when they beat Aughlisnafin by 5-13 to 0-10 in a re-fixture.
That is pleasing for Tony and Aidan, because Ballymartin have a big goal ahead of this season.
It was not set by management, instead it was a target laid out by the players.
Tony explained: “The boys set the goal this year and it was to be promoted. It will not be easy.
“The standards in the division have been very good.”
Last season Ballymartin were relegated from Division Three after finishing in ninth place, just one point behind Newry Shamrocks.
This season they are making a strong challenge for promotion.
Ballymartin are sitting in third place in the division on 12 points, two points behind joint leaders Drumaness and Ardglass.
