Ballynahinch recently hosted Ulster Rugby and UK government officials as they opened their new inclusive changing facilities, which were part-funded by the UK government Levelling Up Fund and the IRFU.

Women’s rugby continues to be one of the fastest-growing sports in the UK, and with participation increasing across all age groups, Ballynahinch has created a facility where everyone can enjoy sport in a safe, inclusive space.

The new facilities include two brand-new changing rooms, and the rest of the changing area has been upgraded to meet current IRFU standards.

The project was supported by several key individuals, including Grant Officer Richard Hart, who worked closely with Ulster Rugby officials managing the Levelling Up Fund, project manager Steven Seymour, and Clem Bassett, who was the go-to troubleshooter on site. Thanks to their efforts, the process ran smoothly, and the project was delivered on time and within budget.

The club expressed its gratitude to members for their patience during the construction and acknowledged the significant financial contribution made by the late Joe Carlisle and his sister Iris.

Their generous legacy has helped provide a lasting facility that will allow everyone to enjoy rugby and the benefits of team sports for years to come.
