Ballynahinch claimed their first Towns Cup since 2020 after a thrilling derby win over Dromore at Kingspan Stadium.
Coach Davy Harris had nearly a full-strength team, with Ryan Connolly stepping into the second row in place of the injured Kyle Gill. Ballynahinch dominated the opening quarter, leading by 10 points at one stage, but Dromore fought back before halftime with a converted try.
After a close second half, Ballynahinch regained control with a try from Campbell and a crucial penalty from McKeown. Despite Dromore’s pressure, Ballynahinch held firm, with strong bench contributions from Chris Gibson and Joe Charles. The match-clinching score came from Joe Bingham, finishing off a brilliant team move. McKeown sealed the win with the conversion, and Cairns lifted the trophy amid raucous celebrations.
The match showcased exceptional skill and physicality from both sides, highlighting the quality of junior rugby. Ballynahinch now prepares for the Senior Cup final against Dungannon this weekend, aiming to end the season on a high.
