The Ballynahinch fifth XV reclaimed the McCambley Cup at Kingspan Stadium when James McBriar lifted the trophy following victory over Omagh’s fourth XV. However, Michael Evans and his fourth XV lost their grip on the Forster Cup, as they went down narrowly to a strong CIYMS second XV on a damp Saturday afternoon in East Belfast.

The fifth XV have been on a mission all season after a poor performance in last year’s final against Ballymena, and they were pushed all the way by a determined Omagh outfit. The side, captained by James McBriar, used all their experience and guile to win by seven points, despite missing a few regulars due to injury and the holiday weekend.

The fourth XV took an early lead and held on to their advantage at the interval before a seesaw second half went the way of their opponents. The Ballymacarn men went behind but fought back to lead by a point, only for two late CIYMS tries to end a gallant defense of the trophy won in style last season.

Congratulations to everyone in a Hinch jersey on their performances at Kingspan and throughout another successful season.
