Minor A Championship final
Mayobridge v St John Bosco
Sunday, Páirc Esler, 1.30pm
MAYOBRIDGE need to lift their game if they are to win back-to-back minor titles this weekend.
That’s the message from one of the management team, Francie Poland. However, he added the caveat that the current minor team are a special group of players who are capable of winning another title.
They are playing Bosco in the final and Francie said that will be a test.
“We need to up our game in the final.
“We played Bosco a couple of years ago and they have a lot of good players.
“They are in Division Two but we know they have good players. They are going in a wee bit blind, and we are going in a wee bit blind because we have not played each other in a couple of years.”
Francie pointed out that Bosco’s win over Kilcoo in the semi-final was notable.
“To score six goals against Kilcoo is very good. [Bosco] are no bad side.
“We are trying to do a bit of research on them and we are hearing that they have a lot of pace on their team.
“We would need to be careful. But we have pace too.”
In the full story Francie explains why this season has been tougher than last year.
