Castlewellan manager Paul Hanna praised his players for their ability to battle for a victory last week against St John’s.
The Castlewellan ladies had lost their opening game against Carryduff but bounced back with a victory over newly-promoted St John’s.
Paul said, “Going into the St John’s game, we were looking for a big performance. We lost Niamh King, but we had a couple of minors who made the step up.
“The pleasing thing is that we were getting beat by three with eight minutes to go, then we won by two. The girls showed character to come back and close the margin. That was good to see considering some of them are so young.
“That showed a lot of resilience. They clicked together and defensively they looked strong.
“There were a lot of minors on the pitch. They tasted tough football for the first time and looked good.”
The result was a positive boost for Castlewellan considering they had lost their opening game by 7-11 to 1-5.
“We had a tough opener against Carryduff. They were well beaten.”
