CASTLEWELLAN Town manager Glynn Robinson has praised the efforts of his players as the Bann Road side’s unbeaten start to the league campaign continued following a 1-1 draw with Tullycarnet on Saturday.
The Tullycarnet result means Castlewellan have won four of their opening seven NAFL 1C games, and have drawn three.
Robinson, who was appointed as manager following John Young’s departure in June, is pleased with the start, but says there’s room for improvement.
“We’ve put in some exceptionally good performances this year but I don’t think we’re there yet, I’m still very new to the players and to the club, so there’s still a lot of things to work on.
“But the players have reacted brilliantly and at the end of the day, they’re the ones that go out and do it on the pitch, I can only steer them in the right direction.
“It’s on them to go out and produce the goods and everyone that’s played has done exactly that.”
The Town’s only defeat so far this season came against NAFL Premier Division outfit Abbey Villa, who narrowly beat Robinson’s side 2-1 in round two of the Border Cup.
“Our only defeat came in a cup match against a team sitting third in the Premier Division and it was very much a game of two halves.
“I seen the ability in their (Abbey Villa’s) side and I seen the ability in mine, and there was no difference,” Robinson explained.
In the full story the manager admits that they might have approached the season differently if they were to do it again.
