Northern Amateur Football League Division 1C

Saintfield United 2
Castlewellan Town 4

Castlewellan Town produced a fine performance on Saturday to pick up all three points away to local rivals Saintfield. The win was Castlewellan’s fourth in four games, as they continue their flawless start to the year.

Early goals from Conor O’Hare, playing in his first game in senior football, and Jack McCourt saw the Bann Road men race into a 2-0 lead before Caolan Teer made it 3-0 early in the second half.

The hosts came back into it with a goal from Harry Harpur, but McCourt netted his second on 77 minutes to continue his purple patch in front of goal, with five goals in his last four games. Saintfield grabbed a late consolation through Joshua Johnston-Wood, but the victory was very much deserved for the men in green.

There are now six league games left for Conor Fegan’s side, all away from home, as Castlewellan look to stay in the 1C promotion mix. Next up are league games against Suffolk and Malachians before a tough trip to East Belfast in the Clarence Cup.

Saintfield occupy ninth place in the table, with home games against Malachians and Tullycarnet on the horizon.
