WBR Chamber of Commerce, which represents businesses in Warrenpoint, Burren and Rostrevor, has launched its strategic vision for the region and key priorities for 2024 to 2027.

The local chamber of commerce’s focus is on driving growth and investment in the area.

The launch of the vision and key priorities took place on the 8th of October in the Whistledown Hotel in Warrenpoint and was attended by businesses across all sectors.

With the construction of the Narrow Water Bridge under way, WBR Chamber is expecting the bridge to improve connectivity, economic growth and tourism for the region.

This year marks five decades since the local chamber of commerce was formed.

Colleen Tinnelly, WBR Chamber of Commerce president, stated: “To mark the 50th anniversary of the WBR Chamber we have launched our vision and key priorities for the next three years.

“Our vision and key priorities set out what our members believe are the priorities for the Warrenpoint, Burren and Rostrevor business community, and what to expect from the WBR Chamber in response.

“The five strategic priorities, including growth, connectivity and advocacy, will require a collective effort from the businesses, with investment from government and local authorities.

“We want to see Warrenpoint, Burren and Rostrevor an attractive area to live, do business in, visit and invest in for years to come.”

Councillor Pete Byrne, chairperson of Newry Mourne and Down District Council, added: “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council congratulates WBR Chamber of Commerce on their 50th anniversary and is very proud of what the local business community brings to the region.

“It is important we work together, in the public and private sectors, to deliver economic growth and support local business.”
