‘THE Ultimate White Collar Boxing Fight Night’ charity fundraiser is set to become an annual fixture on the Newcastle calendar. The maiden event – organised by local men Paddy Kelly, Ryan McDonald and Leigh Ferris – was held in O’Hare’s in late November and proved to be a roaring success, raising over £10,000 in the process.
The event’s two selected charities – Newcastle’s ADHD Hub and Daisy Lodge (Cancer Fund for Children) – each received cheques for £4,300, whilst £1,488 raised on the night went to Advocacy VSV, a charity that provides professional advice and guidance to victims of sexual violence.
Newcastle men Paddy and Ryan – both of whom boxed on the night – told the Mourne Observer that they were thrilled with how their first foray into fundraising for such worthy causes had gone, and that they are now driven to ensure that the Fight Night is held on a yearly basis.
