THE family of Adele Kelly have said she would be pleased to know that the Claragh Bridge Vintage Club road run on Saturday (25 April) will raise money for the Friends of the Cancer Centre charity.
The vintage club chose to raise money for the charity in memory of Ballynahinch woman Adele, who sadly passed away last year.
She was a long-time supporter of the event.
Adele’s husband Gabriel told the Mourne Observer: “Adele would never have missed it (the run).
“If we were ever away on holidays it always had to be booked so that we were back for the Friday, for the Claragh Bridge show.
“We started going there when it first started and it was a yearly thing.
“We went because the money went towards different organisations and charities that are close by.”

Gabriel said it was also important that the fundraising is going towards the Friends of the Cancer Centre charity.
Based at the heart of the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, the charity funds life-saving and life-changing projects that make a real and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of local people affected by cancer.
“I think that it is good of them to do it,” Gabriel said of Claragh Bridge holding the event for the charity.
“The Friends of the Cancer Centre always supported us when we were down there.
“Adele held quite a few charity things herself after she was diagnosed.”
Gabriel and his five sons, Thomas, Peter, Andrew, and the twins Jamie and Ryan (18) will take part at the Claragh Bridge Vintage Club event.
“We are all bringing vehicles,” Gabriel said.
“Thomas is going to bring an Audi.
“Peter is going to bring one of our tractors.
“One of the others will bring another tractor belonging to us.
“I am going to bring Adele’s wee Mini.
“I bought that Mini for Adele. She always wanted one of those older Minis.
“We went to different shows and when she saw Minis she asked about getting a Mini.
“We got it in 2019. We bought it for her and did it up.”
Claragh Bridge Vintage Club’s annual vehicle road run will leave from Walter Watson’s yard on the Aughlisnafin Road on Saturday 25 April, with assembly from 3pm, followed by the road run at 4pm.
A family fun day will be held, with live music, along with food stalls.
