Local club Celtic Bhoys have taken to social media to congratulate Downpatrick man Conor McMenamin following his Scottish Premier Sports Cup win with St Mirren.
Conor was part of the team that beat Celtic 3-1 on Sunday, as the Paisley club won the Scottish League Cup for the second time in their history. They last won in 2013, when they beat Hearts in the final.
Celtic Bhoys mentioned Conor online and said, “Congratulations to Conor McMenamin on winning the Scottish Premier Sports Cup with his club St Mirren FC. A great example to all the young boys and girls in the area of what they can achieve by working hard. Enjoy your celebrations.”
Murphy’s Bar Downpatrick wrote on their Facebook page, “Congratulations to Conor McMenamin on winning the Scottish Premier Sports Cup with his club St Mirren FC.”
Before joining St Mirren in July 2023, 30-year-old Conor had spells at Linfield twice, Loughgall, Glentoran twice, Warrenpoint, and Cliftonville. Conor was brought into the team by another Northern Ireland man, St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson, who is from Lisburn.
