LOCAL woman has won the award for Volunteer of the Year at the NI Veterans Awards.
Nora McKee has been congratulated on her accolade by South Down MLA Diane Forsythe, who said it was “extremely well deserved”.
The Assembly member added that Nora is “always working hard” and is “one of the most dedicated volunteers I have ever known”.
“As a veteran herself she has always been committed to service and in our local community she has gone over and beyond for many years,” the DUP MLA stated.
“Well done Nora, we are all so proud of you.”
The local MLA held a coffee morning in her constituency office on Friday morning to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal.
“A huge thank you to everyone who called into our annual RBL Poppy Appeal coffee morning again this year,” she stated.
“We are pleased to support this worthy cause.
“Thanks to Nora and Natalie for running the Poppy Shop for the morning.
“We have some poppies and crosses available in the office if anyone would like to call in over the next couple of weeks.”
