DUNNAMAN first team manager Ryan McMillan says he was “always confident” his team could win the Mid Ulster League Division 3 title.
The Mourne Esplanade team were confirmed as Division 3 champions following a 3-1 home win over title rivals Damolly, with first half goals from Jack Rodgers and Michael Harper (2) sealing the result.
“I was personally always confident we were going to get over the line, we’ve proved we are the best team in the league but we still had to win on Saturday and I thought we did that quite convincingly,” McMillan said.
Lessons were learned from last season, according to McMillan.
Dunnaman sat at the top of the Division 3 table in November of 2022, having only lost one game.
However, their form started to tail off at the start of 2023 as The Dons, Roca Juniors and Damolly eventually overtook them and their promotion push fell by the wayside.
“The goal was always promotion this year and anything less would have been a failure.”
