The inter-school showjumping final was held on Saturday, the 22nd of November, at The Meadows Equestrian Centre, Lurgan. This challenging competition attracts competitors from schools across the province, and the riders from Down High again proved to be enthusiastic participants.
“Many of our competitors in the Novice class gained confidence, and practice certainly made perfect as the league progressed,” added a spokesperson for the Downpatrick school. “In the Open class, the fab four—Ellen MacNabb, Sophie Herron, Sarah Gilchrist, and Emma Williamson—stormed their way to the top of the league early in the competition and thrilled their supporters by maintaining this advantage throughout the event.”
“Their ability to remain focused and perform under pressure ensured that they, once again, brought the Interschool Shield back to the trophy cabinet in Down High.”
The team gratefully acknowledged the willing support from their chef d’equipe, Mrs. Ruth Adams, and their parents. The riders and their horses will now enjoy a well-earned rest before they start preparations for the Balmoral Show qualifiers.
