THE current Down team are carrying on the tradition of being goal hunters, and that attribute may be the difference in Saturday’s Ulster Championship clash with Antrim (Saturday, Páirc Esler, 6pm).
That’s the analysis of former Down player Gerard Colgan, who says he is excited about the potential of Conor Laverty’s team as they start their Ulster Championship campaign this weekend.
“There is definitely a lot of excitement about how they play, there is never a dull game that is for sure,” Gerard told the Mourne Observer this week.
“The great thing about them is they have a lot of energy and have a lot of speed and create a lot of chances. Down teams historically have always created goal chances and scored goals, and this team has definitely done that this year. It is a nice place to be.”
