DOWNPATRICK Cricket Club’s first XI have secured promotion to NCU Section One with a game to spare, pipping local rivals Dundrum, following other league results over the weekend.
Gaining promotion in the year of the club’s 175th anniversary is a special achievement. This is the same club which was about to close its doors two years back, now it seems a thing of the past.
Thanks to Jeff Maguire, Ravi Ningegowda, Jeremy McCready, Marco Wyngard, Jack Mclleron , Correna Coburn, Chris Gilmore and all the players who always extended unconditional support in everything and worked so closely to achieve this for the club.
Downpatrick host NCU Tow champions Bangor on Saturday at Strangford Road, in what will be a day of celebration. A BBQ will be provided and refreshments will be on sale.
