DROMARA GAC’s Jon Rodgers etched his name into Wallace High’s history books last Monday as he captained the Lisburn school to their first ever Ulster Schools’ Cup win.

Wallace defeated Royal School Armagh 24-15 in the traditional St Patrick’s Day final at the Kingspan Stadium.

“It was a brilliant feeling, we were over the moon and it was a big relief to get over the line after 70 minutes of hard work and seven years of hard work with the school,” the Wallace captain said, describing his emotions after lifting the trophy.

“I walked into school with the trophy the next morning. It was an amazing feeling, knowing that you’ve accomplished something that’s really important and really special for the school.

“The reaction has been amazing, all the teachers in the school have congratulated us and the students created such a good atmosphere in the weeks building up to the final and on the matchday itself.

“Everyone in the school is buzzing,” Jon added.
