DROMARA are preparing for their Ulster club game with Collegeland of Armagh in Newry this coming weekend and they’ll have the ambition to become the first ever Down club to win an Ulster club junior title.
Indeed, Down clubs traditionally haven’t fared well at the grade and its several years since a win has been recorded but, off the back of a morale boosting Down Championship win, Dromara are hoping to carry their good form from the season into the provincial competition.
John Fegan’s side have only been beaten once this year across league and championship and thus have developed a real sense of confidence and self belief.
Backboned by experienced men like Paul Kelly, Brendan McKey, Brendan McNeill and Colm Kelly, they have a sprinkling of stardust too with the likes of Luke Savage up front.
Eoin McEvoy is a hugely promising young player and, as joint captain, has already assumed a key leadership mantle within the squad. They have home advantage for their meeting with three Armagh champions and manager John Fegan is hoping they can use that to their advantage.
Fegan said, “The boys had a great result there already in the final and it’s great to be representing our county next week, giving our supporters and the gaels of Down the chance to get behind us.”
