Dromara Village Seconds will be managed by Mason Jager this year, who has come in to replace Phillip Neill, alongside player-managers and former first team players Kyle Hamilton and Trevor Tate.

Kyle, whose brother Nathan is the first team captain at Dromara, explained that it’s been a “transitional period” for the entire club over the summer period, including the reserve team.

“Our first team has lost ten players and the second team has lost eight players over the summer, so we’re in a transitional period with the club. A lot of the senior players are moving on and we have a lot of youth coming through, so it’s a bit of a re-set. Every club goes through that stage where you’re moving from an older bunch of guys to giving the young guys a chance, the same chance we got when we were young.”

This year, it’s going to be a new-look reserve team, with a move away from a starting 11 made up primarily of older players. Young players will form the core of the team, with older players like Taylor Graham and Peter Jordan providing the experience on the pitch.

“The reserves this year will be more of a developmental team – we’re going from last year where nearly everyone was a senior player to maybe four or five senior players and the rest of the team will be made up of U-21 players. As a club, to progress, you have to keep your own players and give them opportunities,” Hamilton said.

In the full story Kyle goes on to highlight a couple of players which he thinks will have big years this season.
