THE local community paid tribute to Mary Kielty this week, who died peacefully at her home in Dundrum on Saturday, aged 84.

A former chairperson of Dundrum GAC, and wife of the late Jack Kielty, who was murdered in 1988, she was well respected in the village.

A death notice read, “dearly loved wife of the late Jack, loving mother of John, Patrick and Cahal. Mother-in-law of Moya, Catherine and Nichola, devoted grandmother of Catherine, Sarah, Ciara, Milo, James, Shauna and Fionn, sister of John (O’Hare) and the late Susan, Bridget and Margaret. Will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her entire family circle, neighbours and friends.”

Her Requiem Mass was held on Monday at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Dundrum.

Her burial followed in the cemetery of the Immaculate Conception, Aughlisnafin.

During the Mass, Parish Priest Canon Robert Fleck said: “Mary had a good sense of humour, her family have thrived on this gift.”
