
DUNDRUM Cricket Club star Niamh Lowry collected the Women’s Senior 1 Player of the Year award at the NCU Awards Dinner on Saturday evening, winning the accolade for a second consecutive year.
This season, the teenager scored 392 league runs (six 50s) at an incredible average of 196, also picking up 12 wickets. Niamh also put in a number of excellent performances for the NCU (Northern Cricket Union) U-17 team, scoring 52 not out against Warwickshire U-18s, 53 not out against Nottinghamshire U-18s, and a spectacular 101 not out (55 balls) when the U-17s faced Leicestershire U-18s.
Niamh will now be training with the Ireland U-19 women’s team over the winter period. A Dundrum Cricket Club statement posted on Facebook read: “Niamh, we are all extremely proud. A fantastic achievement and a reward for your hard work and dedication.”
