DUNNAMAN Reserves assistant manager Ryan McMillan says his team are “worthy winners” of the Mid-Ulster Football League’s Reserve Three division.

The local side clinched the league title following a 4-0 win over closest challengers Castlecaulfield Reserves on Saturday 25 May.

McMillan, who is also manager of the Dunnaman first team, praised the players following their convincing title-clinching victory.

“It’s been a long season and it’s funny how league titles can just come down to one game,” Ryan said.

“We had to turn up and, in fairness, the boys did and we probably pulled off one of our best performances of the season when it really mattered.”

Dunnaman went into the game only needing a point to pick up the Reserve Three trophy and they faced a side in Castlecaulfield who had gone the entire league campaign unbeaten up to that point.

However, Ryan said the players executed the gameplan laid out by the coaching staff to perfection.

“It was very pleasing. The boys have been calm from the first game this season right through and I don’t think it was ever really in doubt.

“In saying that, Castlecaulfield were coming down to us unbeaten, so although we were confident, we were also very disciplined and committed to executing our gameplan.

“The players have been a joy to work with all season; they’re worthy winners of that league.”
