The popular Eats and Beats Festival is returning to Newcastle this September, the district council has confirmed.
It has announced that the festival, which celebrates fantastic food and amazing live music, will take place this year in the town on the 6th and 7th of September.
This will be the fourth year of the festival. It was first staged in 2022 and has always taken place on the first weekend of September.
However, another of the big local summer festivals will be taking place earlier this year than usual. The Wake the Giant Festival, which typically occurs in Warrenpoint in August, has been brought forward to the end of June.
Both events are part of the council’s ‘Giant Adventures Series’, along with Footsteps in the Forest, which is held in Slieve Gullion Forest Park in October.
“Designed to captivate both visitors and locals, this trio of unforgettable experiences celebrates the region’s rich mythology, music, food, and breathtaking landscapes,” a council spokesperson said.
“From legendary giants to flavoursome feasts and enchanting forests, this year’s Giant Adventures promises a unique blend of spectacle, storytelling, and sensory delights, set against some of Ireland’s most stunning natural backdrops.”
