GLASDRUMMAN’S Eoín O’Flaherty helped the Ireland junior team to a third-place finish at the recent World English Sporting Clays Championship held in San Antonio, Texas. The championship, which took place in mid-April, featured competitors from 19 countries and more than 1,200 shooters in total.
The 18-year-old, competing against junior shooters from around the globe, came eighth individually in the Class B Junior Division, scoring 140/200 after five days of shooting. The former St Louis Grammar School pupil has been shooting competitively for three years in the English Sporting Clays discipline and, after a solid performance in the United States, he will now look forward to the Top Gun Championship at Eaton Hall Shooting Ground, Derbyshire.
Eoín will compete in the English Sporting Clays B Class Junior Division from 11–13 June, with the teenager in with a chance of securing a minimum prize pot of £5,000 if he can top the standings.
