MUFL Division One
Ballyvea 1 Lurgan Celtic 1
BALLYVEA shared the points with Lurgan Celtic on Saturday, as David Heaney’s men came back from a goal down draw 1-1 at Mountview Park.
Lurgan started the game brilliantly and were dominant in the first half.
The visitors took a deserved lead through Dillon Kearney in the 11th minute, when Lurgan midfielder Matthew Lennon drove into the box and squared the ball to the back post, leaving Kearney with a simple tap in.
The Mourne side were under the cosh for most of the first period, with goalkeeper Callum Ewart being forced into some superb saves in order to keep his team in the game.
Ballyvea lifted their performance in the second half and soon started to create some chances of their own.
Both sides squandered chances, before Ben McConnell grabbed a deserved equaliser in the 71st minute, producing a pinpoint finish with his left foot following good work down the left flank from James Annett.
In the end, Ballyvea will probably be the happier of the two sides to come away with a point, as goalkeeper Ewart had to be at his best to deny Celtic on a number of occasions in the second period.
The result leaves Ballyvea in seventh position in the MUFL Division One table.
