Norman Bridges has taken on the role of Kilkeel harbour master, replacing Danielle Rooney.
From saving lives to helping keep the coastal community safe, he is well-known in the area, including for his former role as a member of Kilkeel lifeboat crew, his most recent near 12-year role with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s rescue co-ordination centre in Bangor, and his ongoing involvement as a member of Kilkeel Coastguard team.
He has been in the role for three weeks and has already settled in.
“I have had a great response from so many people and everyone has been really helpful,” he said.
