New Rostrevor manager Tom Franklin has described ACFL Division Two as a “swamp” following Sunday’s win against Bryansford.
Tom is in his first season managing the St. Bronagh’s team alongside local man Martin Farrell. They oversaw the club’s senior men’s opening round victory over Bryansford.
“It is not an easy place to go. Bryansford had a very good league last year. I think they gave Rostrevor two good trimmings last year,” Tom said.
He explained that consistency in front of the posts was an issue for both teams.
“Both teams left a lot behind then. Bryansford had 16 shots in the first half and scored four. We gave them far too many chances. We were better in the second half.”
During the second half, Tom made a few changes to the team that made a difference.
“We sort of went with a younger team on Sunday. And then brought in some experience and power off the bench. I think the bench scored six points between them in the second half when they came on.
“So it sort of worked. We kept Bryansford to the minimum, and they were against the wind. It was a much better second half and it was good to get a win.”
