KILKEEL road racer Barry Graham says he feel like he’s “conquered” the North West 200 after two top ten finishes at the world-famous motorcycle road race.
Riding his Aprillia RS660, Graham finished tenth in both Super Twins races on Saturday past on the north coast. Peter Hickman won both events in the Super Twins class aboard his Yamaha R7.
Graham suffered a broken femur at last year’s North West following a high speed crash and only made a return to racing recently, before dislocating his shoulder in another crash on Easter Monday.
Given his significant injuries, the Kilkeel man says he was content with his performance at this year’s event.
“Considering the injuries I was riding with, it wasn’t too bad. I dislocated my shoulder on Easter Monday, so I was more or less racing with one arm.
“I’ve barely been able to race this year at all, I pretty much arrived at the North West with nothing done in terms of training.
“I just wanted to make sure that this year, I could conquer the North West 200 after my crash last year, I wanted to do the race and get it out of my system,” Graham said.
