HILLTOWN man Tony Greenan is celebrating a second consecutive Formula Boss Ireland Championship triumph, after retaining the title he secured last season following a win in the recent Holmpatrick Trophy race.
Greenan’s victory at the Mondello Park circuit in County Kildare on Saturday the 14th of September ensured he lifted the Holmpatrick Trophy and added to his points total at the top of the Boss Ireland Championship table, giving him an insurmountable lead over nearest challenger, Martin Daly.
His victory at Mondello was his tenth win in 11 Formula Boss races this season, and his 17th win in 19 races, a remarkable record that stretches back to the end of 2023.
Greenan, who races in his F3 car, a 2.0 litre Dallara F317 Mercedes, eventually overcame former Clio Cup GB champion Jonathan Fildes, as the two put up a good jostle for top spot.
“Jonathan got me off the line and he led me for a lap and half before I made a move and passed him. Once I passed him, I won the race by 60 seconds.
“Jonathan put up a good fight but my car has better downforce and it’s a more modern car than his, which played into my hands, especially at a technical track like Mondello, with plenty of corners.”
In the full story Tony explains why the car was key to his success, and his thoughts about next season.
