DONAGH ‘Irish Kid’ Keary got his professional boxing career off to a winning start on Sunday past as he stylishly dispatched of Puerto Rican fighter Geral Alicea-Romero on points (40-36) in an entertaining four-round contest in New York.
The judges scored the bout in favour of Keary on all three cards, giving the 20-year-old a unanimous decision victory on his debut in front of a huge Irish crowd.
Keary’s bout was the first undercard clash of the annual Hollywood Fight Night St Patrick’s weekend event at Madison Square Garden, which culminated in Cork native Callum Walsh scoring a sensational first round knockout of Dean Sutherland in the evening’s main event.
In the current issue, read how Donagh reacted to some of the Puerto Rican’s heavy shots.
