Kilkeel GC Ladies Branch celebrates end of season

Grainne Killen, Pauline Sloan and Cynthia Cranston were among the winners at the Kilkeel Golf Club Ladies branch end of season awards.

THE end of season awards ceremony brought players and sponsors together to celebrate a year of great golf and memorable moments at Kilkeel Golf Club.
Kilkeel GC Lady Captain, Lorna Orr, warmly welcomed everyone to the clubhouse and mentioned how honoured she was to serve as Lady Captain on this, the club’s centenary year.
After a lovely seasonal meal, the competition winners were announced by the Lady Secretary, Anne Marie Higgins.
Trophies won during the golfing season were presented to:
Lady Captain, Lorna Orr – winner of the Hulme Salver.
Pauline Sloan – winner of the White Cup.
Cynthia Cranston – winner of the Davison Cup.
Marie Walls – winner of the Golden Sheaf Trophy.
Pauline Sloan – winner of the Baxter Cup,
Marie McKibbin – winner of the O2 Challenge Trophy.
Fiona Campbell – winner of the Nora Knox Salver.
Ann Macauley – winner of the Dam Shield.
Catherine Quinn – winner of the McKibbin Cup for past Lady Captains.
Lady Captain, Lorna Orr- winner of the Silver Medal.
Cynthia Cranston – winner of the Bronze Medal.
Anne Marie Higgins – winner of the Matchplay Singles.
Pauline Cole and Monica Flynn – winners of the Match play Greensomes.
Grainne Killen – winner of the Birdie Tree.
Grainne Killen – winner of the Brenda Knox Cup (best gross player of the year).

Lady Captain Lorna was thrilled to win Player of the Year and was presented with the William Orr Rose Bowl.

The club are delighted to add two new trophies to our collection this year, namely, The Brenda Knox Perpetual Cup, awarded to the winner of six domestic Stableford competitions, randomly chosen from April to September. 

Lady President, Diane McDowell, was thrilled to be the first winner.
Secondly, our Lady Captain, Lorna, presented the ladies’ branch of the club with the Centenary Cup, going to the winner of six stroke competitions held during the golfing season.

Pauline Sloan won this new trophy, making a grand total of three cups which she won during the season. A notable achievement, well done Pauline.

The presentation ended with four talented ladies expressing their thanks to Lady Captain Lorna, through a heartfelt song, celebrating the excellent job she has done.
