Boys U-16 NI Plate
All Saints College 1 – Kilkeel High School 3
Kilkeel High School’s U-16 boys’ football team started last week’s U-16 NI Plate game against All Saints confidently and moved the ball well. In the early stages, the All Saints’ keeper pulled off a great save to deny Charlie.
But Charlie soon got his goal with a smart finish from ten yards. Charlie could have doubled his lead after some nice football but couldn’t get his attempt on target.
As the half progressed, All Saints started to grow into the game and nearly equalised when they smashed the crossbar. Into the second half, All Saints used the wind to their advantage and got themselves level when their striker finished well, showing good strength. Kilkeel had to withstand some pressure and play on the counter-attack.
The goal of the game arrived when Nathan pirouetted, taking three defenders out of the game, and finished smartly into the bottom corner. This was a goal which capped a great all-round performance from Nathan. Harley sealed the win when he bundled over the line after Rhys had a great effort tipped onto the bar. Kilkeel saw out the last few minutes to record a great away win.
