STUDENTS in Years 10 and 11 at Kilkeel High School recently took part in the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Intermediate Maths Challenge. It is a nationally recognised competition, designed to stretch and challenge pupils’ problem-solving skills.
“The students performed exceptionally well, achieving an impressive total of four bronze certificates, six silver certificates and one gold certificate, reflecting both their mathematical ability and commitment to the subject,” added a spokesperson for the local school.
“Particular congratulations go to William (Year 11), who earned a gold certificate and progressed to the next stage of the competition, the ‘Pink Kangaroo Challenge’. William continued his success at this advanced level, receiving a ‘Gold Kangaroo’ certificate and placing in the top 10% of all participants nationally, a remarkable achievement.
“The school is extremely proud of all pupils who took part in the challenge and commends their hard work, determination and enthusiasm for mathematics.”
