AURLA King has been confirmed as the new SDLP councillor for Downpatrick.
The party has selected her to succeed Gareth Sharvin, who stepped down from the role after 14 years on Monday.
Cllr King said that she is “delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve my local community” on council.
“As a proud Saul woman, I am deeply passionate about improving outcomes for families across this area,” she added.
“As a mother of three, and someone who lives and works locally and is involved in a number of sporting and community organisations, I am all too aware of the challenges families are facing.”
