A NEWCASTLE man has
been charged with a
series of offences
following an incident in
the town at the weekend.
Peter John Oliver Donaghy, of
Castlewellan Road, Newcastle,
has been charged with grievous
bodily harm with intent and
possessing an offensive weapon,
namely a knife, with intent to
commit grievous bodily harm
with intent.
He is also charged with false
imprisonment, making a threat
to kill and making a threat to
damage property.
The 46-year-old has been
remanded in custody at
Maghaberry Prison to appear
before Downpatrick
Magistrates’ Court on 14
September.
The charges are related to an
incident at Bernagh Green in
Newcastle, prior to 7am on
Sunday morning.
A detective said a man in his
50s had sustained a laceration
to the left side of his face and
was taken to hospital for
treatment to his injury.
Police are asking anyone who
can assist with their enquiries
to get in touch.

in relation to the assault to
