A MAYOBRIDGE singer is aiming to fly the flag for Ireland at this year’s Junior Eurovision song contest.
Thirteen-year-old Naomi Gribben will battle it out with fellow teenagers Caleb Kirwan (14) from Leopardstown and Isa-Mae Lyle (14) from Derry in Sunday’s Irish final – which will be televised on TG4 – with the opportunity to represent the country in the continental showpiece in Malta later this month up for grabs.
A TG4 statement said: ‘This year, we’ve followed a new generation of young Irish singers from across the country as they took on the challenge of a lifetime – the chance to represent Ireland at Junior Eurovision in Malta this October.
‘From the very first auditions, we’ve met young singers bursting with talent, personality and ambition.
‘With a huge variety of young Irish talent taking part, the journey to finding Ireland’s next representative has had plenty of surprises along the way.
‘Now, with just three contestants remaining, who will get the chance to take to the Junior Eurovision stage later this month?’
Judges for Sunday’s showpiece, which starts at 8pm, include former Ireland Eurovision star Linda Martin.
The Junior Eurovision final will be broadcast live from Malta on 24 October.
