A NEW, purpose-built, Men’s Shed was officially opened last Friday afternoon in Kilkeel. Hillside Men’s Shed, based at Newry Street Unite Community Centre, is a new workshop and recreational space for men of all ages.
The impressive facility was purchased through funding by the Clothworkers’ Foundation. The opening event was sponsored by Groundwork NI.
The first Men’s Shed in Ireland was set up in 2009, and there are now over 220 and more than 65 in Northern Ireland. Men’s Sheds’ aim was to improve the overall health of all males. However, they have expanded their remit to include anyone, regardless of age or gender.
