DRUMANESS Mills manager Ciaran Brannigan has his set his sights on lifting the NAFL Clarence Cup on Friday following their semi-final win over Kilmore on Saturday past.
The Mills left it late to book their spot in Friday’s final at Seaview, with two Jack Sharvin goals in stoppage time enough to get the job done.
Drumaness will be aiming to avoid a repeat of last year’s Clarence Cup final, when they lost 5-4 to Crumlin United at Breda Park.
Former Newcastle and now Drumaness manager Brannigan believes avenging that defeat may be on the minds of the players who were involved last season, but it’s the kind of talk he’ll be avoiding in the dressing room in the lead up to the game.
“There will be a few players that will take that hurt into the final with them but it’s not something I’ll be putting on them, that’s just extra pressure that we don’t really require.
“They’re individuals and they will remember that hurt, you don’t forgot about it, but hopefully they don’t over-dwell on it.
“I’ll be trying to keep as much focus on seeing how much we can go out and enjoy it first and foremost and then see what happens after that.”
