Drumaness Mills manager Ciaran Brannigan believes his team can pull off one of the biggest upsets in Irish Cup history on Saturday.

The Mills take on Glentoran in the very definition of a David v Goliath clash, with Brannigan’s men — who sit tenth in the Amateur League Premier Division — facing the 23-time Irish Cup winners, who are currently third in the NIFL Premiership table following Saturday’s 2–0 win over current Irish Cup holders Dungannon Swifts.

“It’s a massive challenge for us and we’re definitely looking forward to it. It’s going to be an experience for all the boys and the management team, and it’s one we’re going to enjoy. We’re going to go down to The Oval with a spring in our step, and we’re in unknown territory, so we have to enjoy the moment,” Brannigan explained.

Drumaness, at the time of writing, go into the game with a fully fit squad and have already pulled off two upsets to reach the sixth round for the first time in the club’s history. They defeated NIFL Premier Intermediate side Newry City and Championship outfit Armagh City, following earlier wins against Desertmartin and Fivemiletown United in the previous rounds.

Glentoran, meanwhile, comfortably overcame Strabane Athletic 4–0 to reach this stage of the competition and have recently strengthened their squad with the signings of Crusaders duo Ross Clarke and Jarlath O’Rourke, along with midfielder Aaron McEneff from League of Ireland outfit Shamrock Rovers.
