The Kilkeel schoolboy who tragically died last week will be remembered as “a special son, whose life was overflowing with kindness, love, and generosity.” In his address at Mourne Presbyterian Church on Friday, Rev William Bingham said John Doole “brought much joy” into the Cousins’ household, where he became a cherished part of the family when he was a toddler.
John, who was 11, died last Tuesday morning following a road traffic collision close to his Corcreaghan Road home. In his address, the local clergyman said that despite being a boy, John had made such an impact on countless people’s lives.
Praying for all those impacted by the tragedy, Rev Bingham expressed the family’s thanks to the emergency services, Daisy Hill Hospital, and the police officers who attended the scene of the accident and for their support throughout last Tuesday. Rev Bingham said John “won the hearts of many” and was “a real blessing to all.”
In his tribute, Rev Bingham referenced how he was an “adored” son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin.
“We gather together this afternoon as a community in great shock and with deep sorrow to pay our respects to a unique little boy and to express our deepest sympathy to his family and many friends. We remember especially John’s parents: Wesley and Theresa – remembering also Stephen and Lisa; his sisters and brothers: Penny, James, Joanne, Katie, Holly, Ellie, Brooklyn, Jamie, Roxy, Zoe, and Sam; his Nana, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and all the family circle. We remember also his many school friends and pray for them and for all those impacted by Tuesday morning’s tragedy.”
