AFTER Saturday’s win over Limerick, Down selector Declan Morgan was pleased, not just with the result, but with the overall showing too.
Declan said, “The boys trained well during the week and played well in spells of that game so it was pleasing to get the win”.
After the loss in the Ulster semi-final manager Conor Laverty spoke about a desire to find a way to score more points and Down certainly delivered on that front against Limerick as they banged over 20.
On that issue Morgan reflected, “Yeah, definitely, the point taking was good. I think there was a lot of talk about the Armagh game that we weren’t scoring enough but every game is different, every game takes on a life of its own.
“What we scored against Armagh was nearly enough to win the game anyway so you have to take it on its merits.
“Today was a lot more open, a lot more free-flowing from both teams so thankfully our lads, when they got the chances, they knocked them over.”
Down now travel to London and then face Offaly in their two remaining games.
