SUNDAY past saw a superb collective showing at the Belfast City Women’s 10k, where ten Murlough AC women lined up in testing conditions: Emma Codd, Anne McCormick, Fiona Barr, Donna Howard, Shauna Trainor, Rose Mackin, Eleanor McCartney, Joanne McCollam, Brenda Doran and Barbara Neeson.
Despite challenging heat and an unfamiliar “city air” compared to their usual coastal training environment, every Murlough runner completed the course, showing resilience through the toughest mid-race miles.
Niamh O’Connell claims podium in Tromsø
There was an incredible achievement from club member Niamh O’Connell, who travelled to Norway to compete in the Coop Mila 10k, part of the prestigious Midnight Sun Marathon Festival.
Running through the beautiful streets of the Arctic city of Tromsø under the famous midnight sun, Niamh produced a brilliant performance to secure third place in her age category, earning a well-deserved podium finish against strong international competition. A phenomenal accomplishment from Niamh.
Steady run from Ciaran Poland in Lisburn Half Marathon
At the muggy midweek Lisburn Half Marathon, Ciaran Poland delivered a controlled and consistent performance last Wednesday, crossing the line in one hour, 47 minutes after a solid evening effort.
Strong evening performances at Comber 10k
The club was also represented at the Comber 10k on Friday past by Gary Cull and Gillian Ryans, both producing strong runs and bringing home excellent finishes in an enjoyable evening race.
Grit on the Mourne slopes
MAC’s mountain runners took on one of the toughest local challenges at the Hen and Cock Hill and Dale Race last Thursday.
The route takes runners from Hen Car Park up and over the rugged slopes of Hen Mountain, across to Cock Mountain and back again, serving up some tough terrain and spectacular Mourne scenery along the way. The Murlough quartet of David Crudgington, Pat Shields, Siobhan McKibbin, and Tracy McCaughey delivered strong performances over the demanding 5km course, which packs significant ascent and technical descent into a short but brutal route.
