There was a weekend of celebration and festivities in Longstone as the club officially opened their new pitch.
The dedication of the pitch took place on Thursday evening with GAA President, Jarlath Burns, in attendance and a large gathering of club members present to witness the historic occasion.
Across the weekend, there were a host of Longstone teams in action on the field with Gaelic football, ladies football, hurling and camogie all featuring from Friday to Sunday.
On their club Facebook page, Longstone wrote of Thursday evening’s ceremony: “Club chairman Hugh Rodgers was delighted to introduce Jarlath along with Parish Priest Fr Colin Crossey, to deliver his blessing on the field.
We were in awe of Jarlath who recalled many memories of hearing about Longstone, local legends and the connections with his own county, Armagh.”
