NEWCASTLE Netball Club’s U-19 team delivered an outstanding performance on Friday night as they secured a dominant 61-6 victory over Larne in their Netball NI U-19C Plate semi-final clash.
With a place in the final at stake, there was a strong sense of anticipation heading into the game, particularly as the squad had not been on court together for over three weeks.
It was always going to be a challenge to reconnect, rebuild momentum, and re-establish their style of play after the break.
However, any early concerns were quickly put to rest.
From the first whistle, Newcastle came out with intent, setting a high tempo and immediately taking control of the game.
Their passing was sharp, movement was fluid, and the connections across the court looked anything but rusty.
The team demonstrated composure and confidence, building phase after phase of controlled play and converting opportunities with precision.
Defensively, Newcastle were relentless.
Pressure was applied all over the court, forcing turnovers and limiting Larne’s ability to build any sustained attacks.
Through the midcourt, the work rate was exceptional.
