Newcastle Tennis Club ‘Served Up’ New Sports Equipment Worth £4,000 (3): Newcastle Tennis Club has been announced as one of 38 winning sports clubs across Northern Ireland to each receive £4,000 worth of brand-new equipment as part of Lidl’s ‘Sport for Good’ initiative. The local club received the prize following an online competition which was open to all sporting clubs within Northern Ireland and garnered almost 3,000 entries. Commenting on the club’s win, Newcastle Tennis Club Coach, Sam Clegg, said: "We believe strongly in the positive role that sport plays in the lives of young people in the Newcastle area and our club currently caters every week for over 150 players aged between 4 and 18. This new equipment will make a massive difference to all of our members but especially our younger players who are the future of our club. We’re delighted with the prize and would like to thank Lidl for their support.” One of Northern Ireland’s top athletes, four-time Paralympic gold swimmer Bethany Firth this week visited the local tennis club in her role as Sport for Good ambassador to present their prize.
