NEWCASTLE Netball Club’s U-16 side triumphed in a fantastic 25-11 victory over a strong Phoenix side at Ards Blair Mayne Leisure Centre on Sunday.

The team displayed exceptional control and precision passing throughout the match, making it difficult for their opponents to break their momentum.

Great interceptions were made, and strong shooting from GA Helen Barbour and GS Lucy McGrady ensured a consistent flow of points for Newcastle.
Hope Sherlock provided excellent ball feeds into the attacking circle, setting up crucial scoring opportunities.

On the defensive end, GK Lucy Shiells, GD Evie Gorman, and WD Niamh Watson were outstanding in the first half, creating a solid defensive wall that Phoenix struggled to penetrate.

In the second half, Bridie Gribben continued to maintain pressure on the opposing attack, further solidifying Newcastle’s defensive strength.
The team’s balanced performance, combining strong attack with solid defence, earned them a well-deserved win. Their hard work and teamwork were evident in every aspect of the game.

The coaches are extremely proud of their players’ commitment and performance. The next match will be a home game against Larkfield at Ballymote Leisure Centre on 23 February, where the team will look to build on this fantastic result.
